Combining Multiple Bets

We have looked at the basic idea of multiples, and seen how bets can be combined. In the examples so far, it is necessary for all selections of the multiple to win, otherwise the bet is a loser. However, you can take things a step further and create what are known as “full cover bets” – these are groups of all possible multiples across the chosen selections. For example, in the previous section we created an accumulator of 4 selections. However, consider that is is also possible to have a bet that includes all the potential doubles and trebles, in addition to the main accumulator:

Doubles:

1+2
1+3
1+4
2+3
2+4
3+4

Trebles:

1+2+3
1+2+4
1+3+4
2+3+4

Accumulator:

1+2+3+4

In total, there are 11 bets here. So now you do not need all 4 selections to win to get a return, just 2 of them will give you something back. Obviously, the more that win, the better!

This particular bet is known as a “Yankee” and is a full cover bet.

Full cover bets

For each different number of selections, there is a different terms used to represent the bet that covers all the doubles, trebles and accumulators up to the number of selections.

These are as follows:

Trixie – 3 selections. 4 bets – 3 doubles, 1 treble.

Yankee – 4 selections. 11 bets – 6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 accumulator.

Canadian – 5 selections. 26 bets – 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 fourfolds, 1 accumulator.

Heinz – 6 selections. 57 bets – 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 fourfolds, 6 fivefolds, 1 accumulator.

Super Heinz – 7 selections. 120 bets – 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 fourfolds, 21 fivefolds, 7 sixfolds, 1 accumulator.

Goliath – 8 selections. 247 bets – 28 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 fourfolds, 56 fivefolds, 28 sixfolds, 8 sevenfolds, 1 accumulator.

Full cover bets with singles

You might have noted that the above full cover bets do not include single selections. This is another type of bet that is possible, and again has a unique set of terms to describe the different options:

Patent – 3 selections. 7 bets – 3 singles, 3 doubles, 1 treble.

Lucky 15 – 4 selections. 15 bets – 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 accumulator. Equivalent to a yankee plus 4 singles.

Lucky 31 – 5 selections. 31 bets – 5 singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 fourfolds, 1 accumulator. Equivalent to a canadian plus 5 singles.

Lucky 63 – 6 selections. 63 bets – 6 singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 fourfolds, 6 fivefolds, 1 accumulator. Equivalent to a heinz plus 6 singles.
